Estate Planning attorney, Steven Andrew Jackson, will teach a one hour Continuing Education class on “Estate Planning for Business Owners.” The class will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at The Biltmore Building, One North Pack Square, in downtown Asheville. The class is approved for one hour Continuing Education by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
Many of our mutual clients are business owners. This can range from a small one person operation, to a large operation with numerous employees including large farms, construction, manufacturing, or other types of businesses. The structure of the business can range from a Sole Proprietorship to a Limited Liability Company. The transition of that business needs to be planned for. If the owner of that business, often the mover and shaker in the business, goes down by mental disability or death, the business can grind to a halt. If there are other partners in the business the complexity changes dramatically.
We will look at the unique situations involving Business Owners from their emotional and family issues, to the legal structure of the business, to the valuation of the business and how to transfer it when the Business Owner wants to transfer it, or it has to be transferred due to Mental Disability or Death.
