Thankfulness is the antidote to worry. If we will count our blessings (as small as they are) by counting 5 to 10 things we are thankful for daily, we improve our lives. This is a great prescription for mental and physical health. If we focus on the gifts that we’ve received, instead of the challenges that we face, we feel more optimistic and ready to take on those challenges.
We have just moved past Thanksgiving and are moving into a sometimes more harried and stressful time as we move towards Christmas. Also Christmas is often a time of struggle and depression for many people as life is not like the movies. “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a wonderful movie, but it also ends in family resolution. Many times there are no family resolutions.
A wise friend says our birth family is our tribe and that our real family is the friends God gives us on the journey.
Keep focusing on the positives. They offset “worry”. Remember to remain thankful.
