“Ethical Wills” have been around for a long time. They are not legal documents and normally have no legal authority. They are really just a letter you leave behind for your loved ones.
Many will use a format describing the Purpose of the letter. It will give some Introduction. It will share some Experiences the writer had as a Child. More importantly they will talk about things that the individual Values and things they Believe in. They also may set out Lessons that they’ve learned and things that have had Big Impacts on their life. They will often have Blessings or Best Wishes for the future of their loved ones. They are certainly worth doing after you have completed a current Legal Estate Plan properly prepared by an experienced Estate Planning Attorney.
