Last Friday morning while I was heading on my way to a meeting for a Charitable Board a man ran a stop sign and rammed into the right back side of my car. He was accelerating when his car rammed into me. He told me that he never saw me, that he was lost, that he was in a hurry, and that he was on his cell phone. He ran a stop sign and never even looked up. Fortunately my swerving limited the damage to the right back side of my car and he did not have that much of a running start to do more serious damage to me physically. Thank God. It appears that I am only sore.
There is an old quote that says “Man plans and God laughs”. Regardless of what your plans are, there may be other things that are going to happen other than what you planned. I am thankful that I wasn’t seriously hurt and also thankful that I have all of my estate planning in place in the event that I had been hurt. I have the proper people in place to act as my Health Care Agent in the event that I am unconscious and unable to authorize medical treatment. I have Mental Disability planning in the event I suffered a closed head injury and was unable to handle my affairs. I am thankful that I have a fully funded Living Trust in place in the event that I was killed so that my family would not have to deal with the cost, delay and publicity of Probate Court on top of the untimely death of their loved one (They say they love me).
At the Law Firm of Steven Andrew Jackson, Attorney and Counsellor at Law, we have helped hundreds of families protect themselves and their loved ones, avoid Estate Taxes and Probate Costs, and keep their Estate Plans current with the law through The Customized Protective Estate Planning Solution™.
